MOSS SPRING SWIM CLUB: RULES AND REGULATIONS

General

  1. By entering pool grounds, all members and guests agree to abide by all rules and regulations set forth in this document as stated, modified, or amended by the Moss Spring Swim Club (MSSC) Board of Directors or pool management and as additionally imposed by the same.
  2. For the purposes of these rules and regulations, “pool grounds” shall encompass the main pool, wading pool, pump house, bathhouse, grass, playground, sand volleyball pit, and all other areas inside the perimeter fence as well as the parking lot, undeveloped grass lot beyond the parking lot, and all property beyond these areas as owned by the corporation.
  3. The MSSC Board of Directors and pool management reserve the right to establish new rules and regulations or revise, amend, or nullify existing ones without notice or discussion as deemed necessary or as required by law.
  4. All members and guests, including children, shall use the pool and its facilities at their own risk.

Facility Access and Guests

  1. Only members with verified active memberships and their paid guests may enter the facility.
  2. Members are permitted to bring guests subject to the currently posted guest fee policy.  Members are responsible for informing their guests of the rules and regulations and the conduct of their guests while on pool grounds.
  3. Guests may not be on pool grounds unless accompanied by the sponsoring member.
  4. Except as otherwise noted in these rules and regulations, members must be age 18 or over to enter the facility without an adult member.
  5. Children age 11-17 may be permitted within the facility unaccompanied by an adult with a completed Child Waiver from their parent or guardian on MemberSplash.
  6. A member may not be responsible for more than 3 child guests under the age of 5 unless previously authorized by pool management or the MSSC Board of Directors.
  7. Guests under the age of 18 must be accompanied and supervised by a MSSC member age 18 or over.
  8. Members ages 14 and above may bring (1) guest age 14 or above with a signed parent waiver.  It is the responsibility of the guest to print and complete a waiver for each day they attend the pool.  These waivers will be collected at the window with payment.

Health and Safety

  1. Admission to the pool may be refused to anyone wearing bandages or with skin abrasions, colds, coughs, inflamed eyes, or infections.
  2. Pool management/designee have the authority to limit the number of members/guests permitted at any time due to operational need.
  3. The pool may be closed for health and safety or other reasons as deemed necessary by pool management or the MSSC Board of Directors.
  4. Tobacco is prohibited on pool grounds.  This includes cigarettes, e-cigarettes, vaping, smokeless tobacco, “Juuling,” etc.
  5. Glass containers are prohibited on pool grounds.
  6. Animals (other than service animals) are prohibited on pool grounds.
  7. United States Coast Guard-approved personal flotation devices and buoyancy aids are permitted in the wading pool and shallow half of the main pool if a responsible adult is in the water within one arm length of anyone using such a device.  Examples of approved flotation devices include but are not necessarily limited to the following:  bubbles; life jackets; learn-to-swim life jackets (i.e., clippable foam vests with attached arm flotation sleeves, or “swim vests”); and flotation belts.  Inflatable water wings and children’s swim tubes are permitted in the wading pool only.
  8. Use of the wading pool shall be limited to children age 5 and under.  Children using the wading pool must be under the direct supervision of an adult.
  9. Diapers worn in the water must be of the type made specifically for use in pools (i.e., “swim diapers”).  In the event of a fecal accident, the pool staff must be notified immediately, and the pool may need to be temporarily closed for disinfection.
  10. Soft (e.g., foam) balls, dive rings and sticks, and other pool-specific children’s toys may be used in the water in a safe manner subject to approval and direction of pool management.
  11. Spitting, blowing of nose, and chewing gum in the pool are prohibited.
  12. Running on the pool deck is prohibited.
  13. Fighting, wrestling, pushing, dunking, climbing on the head or neck area, abusive language, and any other disturbance detrimental to the health, safety, or enjoyment of the facility by members, guests, or employees are prohibited on pool grounds.
  14. Food and beverage items other than water bottles are prohibited on the pool deck.  Food and beverages must be consumed in the grassy areas or at a picnic table.
  15. All swimmers are required to wash sand off before entering either the wading pool or the main pool.  Parents should wash sand off children after they have been in the play area.
  16. In the event of severe weather or other environmental factors, the facility may be temporarily closed as per the following (please note that all such closures will be considered temporary and will be posted along with updates regarding reopening on the official MSSC website and social media pages):
    1. In the event of thunder, lightning, or an active thunderstorm, the facility will be closed for a minimum of 30 minutes following the last occurrence of thunder or lightning, and all members and guests must leave the fenced area until the pool is reopened.
    2. In the event of heavy rain obscuring vision of the pool floor, the pools will be closed until the main drains at the bottom of the diving area are clearly visible from the pool deck.
    3. In the event of unseasonably low air temperature, closure of the facility will be at the discretion of pool management.
    4. In the event of prolonged precipitation, closure of the facility will be at the discretion of pool management.

Bathhouse

  1. Loitering in the bathhouse is prohibited.
  2. Photos and videos are prohibited in the bathhouse.
  3. Problems, including sanitation and cleanliness concerns, should be reported to the staff on duty.

Diving Area

  1. Use of the diving boards is at the discretion of management and lifeguard staff regardless of age or successful completion of the Basic Pool Test (see #2 below).
  2. Basic Pool Test:  Children age 16 and under must pass the basic pool test to use the deep end and diving well.  Pool tests may be requested of patrons at the discretion of pool staff.  That test consists of the following (all parts must be completed satisfactorily without assistance):
    1. Swim one length of the pool without stopping using freestyle;
    2. Tread water for one minute; and
    3. Enter the diving area from either diving board and swim to the designated ladder at the edge of the diving area or the wall without stopping.
  3. Only one person may be on the diving board at a time.
  4. Excessive bouncing or springing on the diving board is prohibited.
  5. Divers must jump straight out from the front of the diving board and immediately swim to the nearest ladder in the diving area upon entering the water.  Jumping to the side of a diving board and delaying exit from the diving area are prohibited.
  6. Swimming in front of the diving boards is prohibited.
  7. Holding onto the diving boards from underneath is prohibited.
  8. Goggles and masks are prohibited when jumping off the diving boards.
  9. Members age 16 and under may use the diving area only if they have passed the Basic Pool Test (see #2 above).

Miscellaneous

  1. MSSC is not responsible for loss or damage to personal belongings, bicycles, or automobiles.
  2. The cost of any property damage caused by a member or guest may be charged to the sponsoring member.
  3. Alcoholic beverages and other controlled substances in any form, and anyone under the influence of the same are prohibited on pool grounds.
  4. Vehicles may not be parked in front of or otherwise obstruct access to the emergency access gate located near the main pool pump house and diving well.
  5. Bicycles must be parked in bike racks.
  6. All injuries occurring on the premises of MSSC must be reported immediately to the staff.
  7. Loitering around the office area and extended conversations with employees are prohibited.
  8. At the discretion of management, there will be a 15-minute adult swim at the top of each hour during which all swimmers under the age of 18 must exit the water.  Children are not permitted to be near the shallow end or sit on the edge of the pool during adult swim.
  9. Appropriate refuse and recycling containers must be used for all trash and recyclables.
  10. Pool parties that use the pavilion must provide two weeks notice to pool management.
  11. Members who plan to have a large gathering of six or more must provide 72 hours notice to pool management.

Refusal to follow these rules and regulations as set forth by Moss Spring Swim Club or misconduct on pool premises may result in dismissal from the facility.  

This applies to all members and guests.

Implied Agreement to Abide by Moss Spring Swim Club Rules and Regulation

Use of Moss Spring Swim Club facilities implies agreement to abide by the rules and regulations as set forth in this document at all times while using pool grounds.  Members agree to inform all guests for whom they are responsible of these rules and regulations and further agree that they are responsible for the actions of their guests while on pool grounds.  Failure to abide by these rules and regulations may result in suspension or termination of membership privileges and forfeiture of annual dues as well as potential loss of ownership certificate with no financial compensation.
